Hey guys,
I'm a manager in the government, and I haven't been for too long (I was a senior policy analyst before). I feel like my co-worker managers don't respect me; they talk down to me, and give me really basic work. I got an interview for a director position (basically one level up), as I have something on my resume that the other department is looking for. The issue is, my co-workers have been busting their a$$es to move up, and I think there's some jealousy. One person pulled me aside and told me that people are feeling demoralized and have been badmouthing me behind my back and how I don't deserve to move up, etc. I told a few people that to move up quickly like I have (I'm fairly young), you have to leave the branch and move around every 9-12 months or so. Someone, that's made it worse, and now no one is even talking to me.
Are they just being petty? Did I do anything wrong by wanting to move up?
