I need some serious career advice from my fellow rfders.
A bit about myself. I'm 28 years old and just recently returned to Barrie from Western region where I had a nice gig going on before being laid off. I graduated with Hons. in Applied Mathematics 4 years ago from an Ontario University. In the past 5 years, I only have had retail management positions. I would have loved to stay in Alberta/Territories, but due to some family issues in Ontario I will not be going back there anymore (at least for the next 3-4 years).
At this moment, I need to make a decision about which field(s) to pursue since I would rather not be working in retail all my life. While was in Territories, I enrolled in college there and completed 2 of the Supply Management Training courses out of 4 (5 seminars are also required before getting the diploma). I can start taking the remaining courses this September and should be able to complete it by Apr/May of next year. Now before someone asks me, I don't have any prior experience in Supply Chain, but that's something I had considered quite seriously for a while when I was in Territories.
My second option is going for a mutual funds course (IFC) and apply for jobs in bank and see where that leads me. (This is what I'm leaning towards at this moment)
My third option would be real estate. A family friend here in Barrie owns a brokerage and has asked me to come and work for him. As per him, it should take me approximately 8 months to get my license and start working. I haven't done any research on real estate yet so I was hoping for rfders input on it.
What I would like to know is whether or not working in real estate part time is worth it or is it something that can/should be done full time only? I was hoping of landing a job in banking sector and working as a realtor part time once I get my license. Also are there any rfders who are aware of the market in Barrie?
My second question is regarding supply chain; how difficult is it to get an entry level job in supply chain with SMT diploma only without any direct experience? Also are there any schools in North of Toronto that offer this program?
Thanks in advance.
