I finished my first year at a pretty decent business school.
For months, I have been trying to find an internship or summer student position however have had no luck or even interviews. I've lost count at how many companies I've applied to. So first off, any tips for a business student looking for summer jobs? I have good extracurricular experience and great work experience for my age.
Since that isn't working out, I'm trying to get a job at a local bank as a teller. The pay is decent for a student however I'm also hoping it helps get an internship with the same bank in a later year because I assume it looks good if you have that banks name on your resume when applying for more jobs with them.
I have a lot of customer service experience and decent sales exposure. My current part time job involves a lot of customer service, up selling, counting loads of cash, and a lot more skills relevant to a bank CSR.
Does anyone have any tips in applying for teller jobs?
Does anyone know if any banks hire from the branch directly? I know TD and BMO have everything centralized, which is making it extremely difficult to stand out in online applications.
I don't want to be overconfident, but I'm pretty sure I have better work and extracurricular experience than most people in my age group. Even at work I'm always exceeding expectations and have gotten praised by regional and area managers for my performance. I realize the job market is tough however I still feel that I shouldn't be struggling THIS much in finding a business student internship or bank job.
Sorry for the long read, typing this from my phone on break at work :)
