Favouritism at work?

Have you ever encountered favouritism at work and how have you dealt with it?

Openly confronted the boss, who is playing favourite?
Approached boss' s boss or HR to intervene?
Got the hell out of there?
You simply ignored it and focused on your work and kept demonstrating merits based on performance and hope someone will eventually take notice?

I am practicing last option at current workplace, have to admit it hasn't been working too well for me.
