Hi,
I work in the Ontario Public Service. I'm considering moving to Alberta to get a job in the public service there. I have a question about salary.
I am looking at a policy analyst job, PS5 classification. That job starts at $72,000, increasing every year by 4% up the grid to top out at $95,000 after seven years (roughly). I know the union is currently locked in a battle, with the union seeking about a 3.5% increase every year to keep pace with private sector wage increases in that province. I'm trying to work out how much my salary will be in seven years, assuming a conservative 2.5% salary increase for cost of living each year. In other words, 6.5% total a year for the next seven years. I know benefits are a huge portion of the total compensation, but I'm just trying to work out salary for now.
$73,000*(1.065^7) = $105,000, correct?
Also, what is living in Edmonton like?
