I'd just like to start out by thanking this forum, this may be my first post but the lot of you have saved me from getting in too deep into any "job offers" that seemed a bit too good to be true on more than one occasion. I noticed the last thread posted regarding Iron horse when I was offered a job by them but being foolish and desperate to find a career I blinded myself to the warnings contained within. I had an interview with a recruiter in their Ottawa office and was told I "seemed like the kind of person" that they were looking for. I even spoke with a dispatcher who told me that the security guards they had were working double shifts to fill posts.
As long as I paid them for training and paid the price for a license they'd give me a job. I was told point blank that I would have employment pending training. I know, I was blind. If someone wants you badly enough they'll pay for your training themselves.
I completed the course, passed all tests required but began having problems when they lost part of the application I was to send in to receive my license. I spent roughly a month unable to earn any income due to this mistake and was forced to fix the problem myself with only a lack of interest on their side as to how I should fix the problem. I kept going and filled in the gaps myself, even sent everything in and finally received my license. I called them, let them know that I was now capable of legally working and that I was ready to report in.
I was told that they had no openings. I paid them, sat through their training and was even told how they had oh so many open positions only for that to mysteriously dry up when it was their turn to give me the job I had been offered on the day of my interview.
Oh they lived up to their side of the bargain and found me employment in the security field. They found a company willing to take me that was offering two shifts one weekend and then nothing for months after. It technically counts as helping me find a place so they don't have to fulfill their side of the bargain and refund part of the cost of the training. I could have made back maybe $200 dollars out of a $800 dollar course (including various other costs associated with it) by working that tiny gig they managed to throw my way.
Anyway I saw the last thread about Iron Horse Security back when I was first looking through Red Flag and wanted to reply to it, only to discover it's locked. I just hope that putting this out there will save someone else who's scraping by with no money from thinking that maybe these guys are on the level. I feel really stupid for having fallen for this in the first place but I was desperate to find employment and start my life in a new city. They preyed upon my desperation and hope and left me out in the cold.
