Hi all,
I am an occupational therapist, who is exploring further graduate education, to potentially work in health management/leadership/consulting (in the public, government or private sector). I currently work for a hospital. I have a Masters in Occupational Therapy and a B.Sc in Health Science.
I am trying to decide between doing an MBA, MPA (MPPAL/MPPA) or MHA/MHM.
MBA: Ryerson, Mac or Brock (part time)
MPA: Ryerson (Master of Public Policy and Administration), York (Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law), Dalhousie (MPA-M Online)
MHA: UOttawa (MPA), Mac (Master of Health Management), USaskatchewan (MHA)
The MBA is more costly but would it be more useful than the other degrees, opening up more pathways/opportunities?
The MHA route is cheaper and many of the programs are online, however, I don't know if it's respected in the private sector/within governments? It seems to be more clinical/health organization management based.
The MPA route, again cheaper than an MBA, but I feel like it's not respected/valued in the private sector.
Any thoughts, from anyone working in this area or are contemplating entering it would be amazing!
Thanks in advance,
Sid
