Hello all,
I have recently graduated from York University (2011) and I am currently going through my quarter-life crisis.
The current state of economy is preventing me to land a job in my field (Life Sciences) and hence I have begun to be doubtful about my future. I recently quit my job (on the spot) at a fast food restaurant because I couldn’t handle it anymore. I have found it impossible to get work in the area I have studied in. What is the point of running so many complicated programs throughout the country covering the same subject when there are nowhere near enough jobs to go around. You can't get the work without the experience and you can't get the experience without the work. No matter how well you do, in some fields it's not what you know but who you know, which is corruption in some sense.
I am beginning to think that its my foreign sounding name (Takayoshi Yoshimura) thats scaring off the employers to not give me the interview call.
I just wanted to see if anyone also had gone through a similar situation and if you would share that experience with me so my career path could be a bit more clear.
Sincerely,
Takayoshi
