Traffic Enforcement Officer

This question might sound weird - what are the pre-requisites to become a traffic enforcement officer (not sure if I got the title right - the guys who issue parking tickets)?

I am not saying they have an easy job but I seem to like it - wondering what do I need to do to become one?

Any information is appreciated.
