A friend of mine asked me to be a personal reference for him for an upcoming interview. He's been at his current workplace for 4 years now (engineering firm), and started right out of university, but doesn't have a work reference he can put down. Everyone that could vouch for him on his work is still working there. The only recent job that he could possibly put down for a reference would be from his part time job that he held during university, but probably moot?
I told him to just bring it up during the interview, and offer to use his current supervisor as a reference if they are on the cusp of making a decision of hiring him or not.
Thoughts?
