Was talking about this last night with my buddy. His wife just got pregnant AGAIN, after taking something like 14 months off work due to pregnancy complications and mat. leave. She's been back for 4 months and now she's off again for more pregnancy complications with her 2nd bun in the oven, as if she didn't know this would happen again after the first pregnancy. I told her, "You know what Einstein said the definition of insanity is?" and she just gave me a dirty look.
Last time she took her pregnancy leave she got full EI plus her company topped up her salary. On top of this, she got a year-end company bonus. Meanwhile, the temp. who was actually doing her job got paid less, got no bonus and when she decided it was convenient to come back, the temp was let go.
Now don't get me wrong, I am grateful to live in a progressive society where people aren't thrown on the street the minute they get pregnant, and I understand the whole propagation of the species thing and how important it is... but at the same time you have to think, even someone who does a piss poor half-arsed job is better than someone who isn't there half the time. Yet the first person would be fired for incompetence. I think the Duggar mom had it right all along. Just keep popping 'em out.
So at what point can a company say, "enough is enough!" When is the person who keeps getting pregnant simply taking up a role that a more reliable person could fill?
