Just wondering if anyone here has any experience working as a summer student/summer intern and could shed some light as to what the typical workload is. Right now I'm a summer student working for a major bank. I've been working for almost two weeks now, and long story short I haven't done ***** . Everyday at work pretty much all I do is sit at my desk surfing the web and reading whatever I can find because there's no work on my plate. Occasionally I will get a little bit of admin work to do on the computer, but for the most part I just show up at work to sit and do nothing all day. I've been reflecting and wondering if it's something I've done that's causing my managers/supervisors to be reluctant to give me work, but I just can't seem to pinpoint anything that would make that a possibility since I was given next to no work right from the get go. They hired me based on a case study I completed and sent back to them, so evidently they had to have liked my work hence why they hired me. But now that I'm there I get nothing to do? Is this normal?
Don't get me wrong, I am still thankful that I managed to land a summer internship at a bank, but I just feel really awkward there doing nothing. It's weird cause it makes me feel sort of like I'm a lazy/bad employee even though it's not really my fault I'm just sitting there not doing anything.
