So I had a mini review today...I was told there MAY be a formal review in the coming days. It was generally very positive. Lots of praise and thanks for my great work over the past year. This was my first review.
At the end I was told my raise is 1.5%. No bonus. No extra vacation or anything. I feel rather insulted especially after how hard I have worked. This after the company exceeded all targets and I reached or exceeded all targets I was given one year ago.
I was expecting a more formal review where I could make my case for a greater raise. I'm thinking about approaching my boss and to request a formal review. I want to stay but don't know how to approach my boss. How should I bring it up? Should I get an offer from another company and ask them to match or is that too aggressive? Should I just say I want x% increase. If they don't go for it, I can start looking for a new job.
I don't like discussing salary but this raise is just insulting. It's not even keeping up with cost of living.
