Im currently a student majoring in criminology, and have been looking for prospective jobs in corrections, mostly in being a probation officer.
I would very much like to find a probation officer job in vancouver, bc. i had initially thought that it would be easy to find the job in a major city, but after several months of job searching... wow..
whats going on here? i can barely find any probation jobs in vancouver, let alone BC.
what happened to the government - promised 36 probation officers job openings? why are there such a high number of probation officers over the age of 60 (around 30%)? why is it so hard to find a probation officer job? is there low demand?
i have found many consecutive job openings in the territories and some in the prairies, but ironically, the two provinces which have the highest caseload for probation officers seem to hire the least.
i am very worried that once i graduate, i will be unable to find a job as a probation officer, which will be quite detrimental for me, as i really do not have the physical/mental capabilities to work as a police officer/corrections officer. so once again, whats going on with the probation officers in BC? someone please clarify this situation for me.
