Telecom to Hard core Electrical engineering

Hi,

I have a Bachelor and Masters in Electrical Engineering. I am a P.Eng. I have 10 years of work experience in telecom.

This days telecom has transformed to IT. Things are changing very rapidly. Traditional telecom equipments are now servers connected with IP network. Products have a very short life cycle and keeping myself up to date is very difficult. Experience is not commutative.

Moreover telecom does not have any strict degree or license requirements. Anyone with server and networking knowledge can enter this field with IT certification like CCNA, MCSE etc. So, it has become very competitive too.

I am planning to become a hard core electrical engineer to work with power systems, motor, generators, transmission and distribution.

Provided I already have Electrical engineering degrees and P.Eng license, How can I change my career in this situation? Any advice?
