Help me weigh this - Career

I've browsed these forums for over a year and a common subject keeps popping up - trades. I need some real advice.

Currently, I am working on site within big oil and I make over $100, 000. I have no expenses and I am still somewhat young (mid 20s). I love this money and money makes me happy.

The problem is I am working as a professional. As with anyone in a corporate environment, I am working unpaid overtime because it is part of my job. This, is where I am starting to realize is exploitation. Sure, I wear collared shirt to work, but I'm paid 50% less than those in the trades, yet, work 150% harder. Naturally, I am envious of those wearing coveralls to the job.

Why am I on here asking about trades?

I envy those with the ability to make twice as much as I do and can take half a year off without reprocussion. That is living.

Is it a stupid decision to throw away a career with a billion dollar organization, a designation, a reputation, brand and standard of living that already balloons most my age to pursue an idea? A dream? Make my 100gs in 6 months, then travel.

I don't want to have a mid-life crisis wondering what I've done with my life. I need to do something today.
