I will be eligible to contribute to the 401(k) defined pension plan and my employer offers discretionary matching based on an annual basis. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to contribute to the plan. I can't see myself working in the US for more than a few years before moving back to Canada. My current plan is to work in the US for a year, then relocate to our company's Canadian office. Although that is my plan, but I can't say for certain because the future is hard to predict. I just might end up working in the US for a while longer than I originally planned. Is there any way for me to contribute to CPP at the same time as the 401(k)? Should I bother with both or just pick one? If so, then which one? Sorry for asking so many questions. This is my first full time job, so I don't know anything.
