A friend of mine recently got laid off from her job and was given a package. She worked at the company no too long and her package was decent. The company will continue to pay her for 6 months or so. The company told her that in the event that she finds a new job during that 6 months, she is obligated to inform them so that they can stop paying her.
My question is, what if she doesn't tell her company that she has found a job somewhere else. Is there a way the company can find out through her SIN or something? Are they even allowed to ask for such information? Anyone been through this sort of situation?
