What should an Electrical EIT learn on the side?

As someone who will be starting a full-time EE program in the fall, what should I learn on the side to make myself more competitive, both for Co-Op and for my first job? I currently live in Victoria, and my school is in Vancouver, and will probably be staying in BC.
