I know that I had a similar topic here before, but the topic went in a different direction than I intended (Note: responses were very good though!)
Now to the discussion .....
Average wage in Canada:
On a Weekly basis: $910.25 or on a monthly basis ($910.25 x 52 / 12) $3,944.42 per month

Average wage in Beijing is 4,672 yuan ($779 CAD using 6 to 1 exchange) per month (in 2011, I could not find consistent 2012 numbers).

You can see that an average Canadian earns 5 times more than those in the most developed city in China.
So, if you were a business and the opportunity and ability to open an office in either location, which would you chose?
Would you employ a team of 5 in Canada or a team of 5 in China?
Assuming they all got an average wage (for illustrative purposes) the office in Canada would cost $19,722.10 while the one in Beijing would cost $3,895 per month.
That's only $15,827.10 per month or $189,925.20 per year for a team of 5.
Let's say you have a workforce of 3,600 that you wanted to utilize.
The difference per year would be $136,746,144
That's not exactly small potatoes.
Is it any wonder why companies (large and small) have moved production, offices and maintenance services outside the country?
The same argument could be made on moving jobs to India, but I couldn't definitive numbers on average wage numbers (beyond $2 per day), but I sometimes wonder why people think that Canada will be a growing nation.
So, with that being said, I wonder if wages in Canada will slowly decrease as they increase in other nations.
What do others think?
Please note: I am not mad at anybody for "taking" a job, however, I am not sure that people really understand in terms of #'s, what companies are really looking at. Essentially they are looking at the ability to cut wages by roughly 80% (or perhaps more). As a businessman, that sounds fantastic, doesn't it?
