reference for CRA

Hello everyone,

I am in the process for a SP position at CRA. I have passed tests and interview and now at the stage of reference checking. But I don't have references apart from teacher's, but they are not accepted. I just graduate with little with experience. The job posting states that no work experience is required, but why are they checking references?

Did anyone was in the same boat? Any thought or suggestion will be really appreciated.
