Please give me some advice on this situation

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I am a project coordinator for a few years. Recently I took a project management exam and am waiting for the result to get my credential.

Last week, I saw a job that requires higher level of project management skills. I was very interested in taking my career to the next level. The job requires degree in business / project management, and minimum 2 years of experience in MS Project. I am the experience to carry out the duties listed on the job positing.

After I sent my application, the HR person called me within 3 mins at home. I missed the call, so I called back the next day. When she answered the phone, she said that she knows I apply for that position. And she asked if I have any experience in MS Project. I told her honestly that no, but where I work, I always take the initiative to learn on my own by taking courses whenever I need new skills / knowledge. She said that the company is now "desperately" looking for someone who is proficient in MS Project. From what I interpret, it seems that is the key thing I didn't make it to the interview.

Since that conversation, I have applied for a grad school to do project management in the coming fall, not because of this position, but I know this is my career goal and I really enjoy doing PM.

I was wondering for my situation, will it be appropriate to briefly mention my upcoming education to the HR person? I know she has re-post the job again in more locations. Where I work, it's not a big city. It's hard to find people to have the right skills. I just want to make sure it won't be annoying, but at the same time, I want to update her about my new education, which could potentially be a great asset to her company.

Any thoughts about that? Thanks in advance!
