I need some advice..

Hey guys, long story short, I'm half way through my BA in Econ, and I'm very interested in accounting, my ultimate goal is to strive for a CA designation, I did a course (introduction to finical accounting) and loved it. My plan is to go to UBC for the DAP after my degree, my question is, I want to get some experience in accounting either through volunteer or work(volunteer most likely) prior attending to DAP. Since many volunteer work regarding bookkeeping etc, wants the individual to complete some courses in the accounting filed, so my question is, is it good idea to get a basic certificate in accounting/bookkeeping in a local college so I can get some experience before going into DAP?
